Ireland 2025 is a wild assortment of collective and collected memories. I asked friends to share some inspiration from our journey and I’m so glad they did! These photos and fiber interpretations are a reminder of the remarkable Irish landscape from coast to coast, the Aran Island life on Inis Mor, and the passionate people who shared their knowledge, their love of country, and their efforts toward rejuvenating Irish wool.
Go raibh maith agaibh agus slàinte!
The enigmatic and entertaining Tony Kirby led us on an educational tour of the unique karst landscape on the west coast of Ireland known as The Burren. Its limestone is home to an unusual and vast array of medicinal mediterranean and alpine plants. There are yellows in Coltsfoot and Yarrow, pinks in Wild Thyme, Squinancywort, and Burdock, and even a little blue in Comfrey. Together, they make a diverse ecosytem and a gorgeous yarn!
Wildflowers is sold individually or as a sock set with a Burren mini
Burren is also sold individually.
ECO-SW Fingering sock yarn is 70% ECO-SW Fine Peruvian Alpaca/30% nylon. This yarn is OEKO-TEX/Standard 100 certified.

An English cottage on a porcelain tea service - a delicate application of purples, greens, and browns on refined, porcelain-like silk yarns. Note how the colours are crisper on the SW and spread a little more on the non-SW and even more on the thicker DK. Yarns are photographed in order from SW fingering, non-SW fingering, to non-SW DK. There are photos of open and wound skeins of each of the fingering bases side by side for comparison.

Coral beaches in Connemara, County Galway are made not of sand but of hardened coralline algae. They’re absolutely beautiful! Lisa captured a mass of seaweed in various stages of decay and colours along the beach. The colours in this yarn reflect the deep oranges and dark green-blacks of the seaweed resting on the cream coral of the beach. Note the Non-SW DK version is more yellow and less speckled.

There exists a magical place in County Wicklow where the sheep are loved and happy and the landscape seems to smile upon you and welcome you in with a whisper through the trees, “tread lightly, this space is beloved and protected”. Lionel and Zoë and their young family are passionate, gentle stewards of this land and legacy at Eriu. They welcomed us warmly and guided us through their fiock to the An tSlaine, seed paper in hand.
You could believe that, when you wrote a wish upon that seed paper and placed it to float along the burbling River Slaney, it would find its mark and be fulfilled. Kjirsten’s Seed Paper Wishes is a vibrant interpretation of the gorgeous rust of river rocks and lush greenery set against the old stone bridge under which our wishes floated. The deep orange half is speckled with dark, almost-black green. And the green half is speckled with deep orange. The speckling and stone colours throughout connect and ground the two halves.

Tarnished Silver is the lovely patina silver takes on over time, still metallic but warmer. This blend of merino and bamboo shines like metal and has a gorgeous soft hand. Because of the unique nature of the dye method used for Tarnished Silver, each 3-skein dye lot differs slightly. Please keep that in mind when ordering. If you require a larger amount, reach out and we’ll do our best to dye up a larger batch for you.

Sea glass from the beaches of Inis Mor and the downtown streets of Galway share an array of beautiful colours. Combining these two photo inspirations led to a watercolour palette of black, green, blue, rust, and cream on a yarn base that has a natural parchment look and feel.
Galway is the star of this combination featuring all of these colours on a tweed yarn with multi-coloured nepps. It’s a vibrant downtown college street full of life.
The individual colours of the Sea Glass minis complement Galway and are dyed on the same untreated, high twist base without tweed nepps.

Of the many incredible places we visited in Ireland, my personal favourie was Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands. If walls could speak, imagine the stories the stone Monastic temples could tell, the three thousand year-old tales the stone at Dún Aonghasa might share.
Stone Fort is the deep stone grey with hints of orange lichen that fills the landscape of Inis More.

A handpainted and carefully set rendition of Carolina’s view from Lahinch Beach. Double sock blanks are a joy to paint but are labour intensive so they are dyed by request. The higher cost of blanks compared with skeined sock yarn is inherent to the higher cost of the undyed blanks, not the extra time it takes to dye them.

The Cliffs of Moher are iconic for good reason. Their sheer scale, both in breadth and height, is breathtaking. Siltstone and shale comprise the dark strata of the cliffs while the lighter, stronger layers are sandstone. These yarns attempt to capture not only the beautiful ocean and sky blues, greys of the stone, and moss greenery in Jenny’s photo but also the sedimentary layers of these awe-inspiring cliffs.
Yarns include both non-striated and striated versions that have been resist-dyed in the gray areas. The colours and placement are otherwise consistent in all options.
