Hand-dyed fiber and yarn

From my hands to yours

The Tour de France in 2026 launches from the shores of the Mediterrean Sea in Barcelona. And this year, my homage to the tour and my offering for Tour de Fleece are two Barcelona inspired colourways.

The art and architecture of this Spanish city are iconic. Built with local Montjuic sandstone, the depth and variety in the incredible architecture is gorgeous and warm. Montjuic combed top is the grounding stone colour to its multicoloured, vibrant partner, Barcelona.

Artist and architect Antoni Gaudi is responsible for much of the iconic colour and work in Barcelona. His stained glass, vibrant mosaics, and the Mediterranean Sea are all represented in this celebratory fiber.

Don’t be fooled by those crazy colours though! They spin up beautifully in a multitude of ways that are more subdued but equally stunning. See my spinning blog post, Barcelona, for some examples. The possibilities are endless!

The Barcelona colours also happen to be the first installment in my new Fiber Study Club. I’ve chosen French Charollais, again for its ties to the Tour de France, being a cross created in the Burgundy area of France and recognized there as a breed standard.

But also because it’s a great beginner fiber. It has short but sticky fiber that likes to be spun woolen, perfect for spindle spinners just getting the “hang” of the craft but also enjoyable for an experienced spinner. The resulting yarn is springy, lofty, and forgiving.

Email subscribers receive a code for 10% off any combination of the Barcelona collection, which includes, did I mention?, some yarn.

One twisted and one open skein of concrete grey and fire speckled yarn, along with scattered dried cypress tree cones on a white surface.

Small batch, hand-dyed yarns in unique tonal, gradient, variegated, partition-dyed, speckled, resist-dyed, and assigned pooling colourways.

Gently hand-dyed fiber and hand-crafted rolags that are a joy to hold and spin.

Colorful skeins of yarn in shades of orange, purple, and multi-colored, arranged on a rock with dried cypress cones scattered around.

Collections offer yarn and often fiber in cohesive colourways, created from events and colour inspirations.
