Waterfall Shrug

My daughter requested this ruffly shrug and chose Kim’s High Tea in non-SW for the yarn. It’s gorgeous but, wow, it was a long, painful knit! The desinger, Janet Barton, has words of encouragement throughout the pattern to “keep going, you’re almost there”.

Once you sew the sleeves together, you pick up stitches and knit one very long ruffle, with short rows, all the way around the piece. Your mileage will vary depending on the size and how much you close up your sleeves. I had over 1400 stitches in that long ruffle. My hands hurt, my Chiagoo cables bent. I thought it would never end. Then it did and it’s absolutely stunning!

Note that this is knit in the non-SW version of High Tea which naturally spreads colour more. The non-SW retains its porcelain-like base.
